Kristina Martinez filed a lawsuit on behalf of her clients, Adrianna and Manuel Chavez, against the city of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Police Department and a cuffed shoplifting suspect. The suit filed in District Court states Ryan Martinez escaped from an interview room inside the Santa Fe Police Department when he was left alone by stacking a chair on top of the table and removing the ceiling panels. Martinez, still cuffed, broke into the Chavez household and attempted to steal Adrianna’s jewelry box when he was confronted by Manuel. Martinez then attacked Manuel, knocked out three of Manuel’s teeth and fled the scene.

After a manhunt, police finally arrested Martinez in an arroyo near Santa Fe Place Mall.
