Pecos land owner says water usage will stay the same

Landowner Benjamin Strickling is converting his Pecos property into a trout fishing ranch which will help boost the Pecos economy. During the transition of the property Strickling agreed to purchased the right to 20 acre-feet of water for his trout fishing ranch with the “goal to continue the traditional use of water to irrigate fields to benefit wildlife, control erosion and support agriculture.”

Kyle Harwood, attorney to Benjamin Strickling, says “the transfer is well within the rule of law and won’t change how the water is used.” According to Harwood the transfer of the water rights will not impact residents upstream or downstream of Strickling’s property.
