Ten weeks and counting and APS CFO Don Moya still has not had a response from Albuquerque Public Schools as to why he was placed on administrative leave.
“I think it’s outrageous that they have never given him a reason,” said Don Moya’s attorney Kate Ferlic. “It’s very uncommon.”
Moya was placed on paid administrative leave after he accidentally received a text from Superintendent Luis Valentino. The text, meant for Public Education Secretary Hanna Skandera, stated Valentino was “going after Moya.”

Moya filed a Whistleblower lawsuit against APS, Valentino and Skandera on August 24th. The lawsuit gave the defendants a month to respond to the claim, however, no response has been given.
“I think delay, delay, delay seems to be their strategy,” said Ferlic.
